One of the subjects I've chosen is the 2008 Finantial Crisis.

Ayer me fui a San Telmo a tomar algo con unas amigas, y después me tomé el subte D para volver a casa.

Me subo al vagón, y al lado mío se sienta un chabón de, como mucho, 28 años, con barba corta y pelo corto castaño medio tirando a anaranjado. Creo que ojos marrones.

Me pregunta: -Disculpame, ¿tenés crédito?

Ahí se me vino mi abuela apuntándome con el dedo diciéndome “¡¡No confíes en nadie, son todos unos ladrones, no hables con extraños!!”.

Con gesto medio reacio le contesté:

-Para llamar, no.

-No no, sería para mandar un mensaje.

Me puse a pensar y en el segundo se me ocurrió la forma de hacerle el favor pero sin darle mi celular, si me lo quería robar, que le fuera más difícil de última.

-Bueno dale, dictame el número y te mando yo el mensaje.

-Dale buenísimo.

Me dicta el número, y luego el mensaje a mandar: “En 5 minutos estoy. Robert”

-Listo ya lo mandé. Cualquier cosa si me contesta te aviso.

-¡Buenísimo gracias! Pasa que yo tenía un iPhone pero me lo robaron, hace 15 años que tengo el mismo chip. Lo tengo desde la época de Movicom y Unifón, que después viste que se unieron a ser Movistar, y pasé por 12 celulares distintos. Mi primer celular fue un Startac.

A esta altura otra vez se me venía otra vez la imagen de mi abuela en la cabeza diciéndome que no hablara con extraños, pero hace poco decidí ser más amigable con la gente que me cruzo por la vida y seguirles la conversación, fue así que el último viaje en taxi que me tomé, aprendí que las chicas que hablan por la radio en los servicios de radiotaxi hacen turnos de 6 horas, porque es un trabajo insalubre, y en realidad son 2 chicas diferentes que se van turnando 1 hora cada una. Así que en mi cabeza tuve todo este diálogo interno, y decidí seguir con la conversación.

-¿Pero entonces me decís que te robaron el iPhone? ¿Cómo fue?

-Resulta que yo estaba en la triple frontera, y todos me decían que Paraguay era más barato, pero yo elegí estar en Brasil por las playas. Me dejé el celular en el hotel y parece que unas paraguayas me lo robaron.

-¿Y por qué dejaste el celular en el hotel?

(Se encoje de hombros)- Ahora me voy a trabajar. Estoy en un puesto de flores, hago el turno noche. Pasa que tengo que trabajar para estudiar. ¿Viste que hay gente que los papás los bancan y sólo se dedican a estudiar? Yo no, tengo que trabajar para poder estudiar. Soy electricista categoría 3, significa que puedo trabajar dentro de las casas, pero no en los edificios. Para eso hay que ser categoría 2.

-Ahh, ¿y vos querés estudiar eso? Mirá vos. ¿Entonces querés ser categoría 1?

-Sí, categoría 1 o 2, es lo mismo. Yo soy categoría 3. ¿Vos a dónde vas?

-A mi casa.

-¿Y dónde vivís?

-En colegiales.

-¡Ah! Entonces tenés que hacer combinación.

-No, no, este subte me deja.

-Ahhh pensé que tenías que combinar con la línea B.

-Sí, en realidad cualquiera de las dos me deja, estoy en el medio.

-¿Y qué hacés? ¿A qué te dedicás?

-Trabajo y estudio también, el camino difícil, pero bueno… es lo que hay.

-Y… (ruido de subte)

-¿Qué?

-Te preguntaba si estás comprometida con alguien.

-¡Ah! Eh… estoy casada (le muestro el anillo)

(Se agarra la cabeza) -¡No! ¿pero cuántos años tenés?

-23.

-¡No! (Se agarra la cabeza de nuevo) ¿Pero ninguna amiga te dijo que no lo hagas?

Over the course of 45 years in the film business, Francis Ford Coppola has refined a singular code of ethics that govern his filmmaking. There are three rules: 1) Write and direct original screenplays, 2) make them with the most modern technology available, and 3) self-finance them.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve given to your children, inside and outside of the industry?
Always make your work be personal.

And, you never have to lie. If you lie, you will only trip yourself up. You will always get caught in a lie. It is very important for an artist not to lie, and most important is not to lie to yourself. There are some questions that are inappropriate to ask, and rather than lie, I will not answer them because it’s not a question I accept. So many times we are asked things in our work or in life that you want to lie, and all you have to do is say, “No, that is an improper question.”

So when you get into a habit of not lying when you are writing, directing, or making a film, that will carry your personal conviction into your work. And, in a society where you say you are very free but you’re not entirely free, you have to try. There is something we know that’s connected with beauty and truth. There is something ancient. We know that art is about beauty, and therefore it has to be about truth.

You now have all the resources to do your own production, writing, directing. What’s the biggest barrier to being an artist?
Self-confidence always. The artist always battles his own/her own feeling of inadequacy.

In the same film, I had three different places.

1) Weekend in La Plata, Buenos Aires.
A few months ago, we went to La Plata for a weekend. We were very exhausted for our jobs and projects so we decided to take a break. We stayed in Benevento and we loved the place. Highly recommended. We also went to the popular restaurant named "Cerveceria Modelo", and we ordered a great meal. So bad we forgot to take a picture of it. All the pics are from the restaurant except the last one, which is from the Science Museum. It was great to have a mini-moon. (Great advice from Brooke Reynolds).

2) First pic: My job in Coghlan neighborhood, Buenos Aires.
I work in the TNT TV network as scheduler. I organize all the pieces that get on air and check that all the information is correct. It's like a regular office job, but in television. It's hard to explain my job. Before start working here, I thought this job was made by robots. =P (Perhaps we are ha!) I hope to find a job more related to my studies in Graphic Design. By now, here I am.

3) The other pics: The train I catch up every day to go for work, Colegiales neighborhood, Buenos Aires.
I adore the train. I'm lucky to travel in one of the greatest trains available. To live in Colegiales is amazing. The bakerys are the best part.

The South

In March we've got married and had our honeymoon in the South.
We've been two weeks in Patagonia and we visited San Martín de los Andes, Bariloche, Villa la Angostura, El Bolsón and Villa Pehuenia. The two weeks were just perfect.
The landscapes were the greatest (even awesome if you take with you 2 digital cameras and 1 analogue). We stayed one week in the beautiful Paihuen in San Martín de los Andes and the second week in a little department at Cascada del Sur.
Here's some pictures I've take with my analogue camera.

An australian graphic designer posts about her life in Japan. So cute!

Loved her interview in The Design Files too.
I would love to be 100% creative all day like she is. So inspiring interview.

I would like to bring my Canon AE-1 everywhere, but it's so heavy that I think my back would cry. x)

Amy also haves a cute column at the blog Design*Sponge named "Living in". She takes inspiration from movies to go shopping.

I think the Clover Planner will be my 2011 planner. On the other side, the laptop bag is part of the new campaign "Poketo for Target", and the Target online store says they don't do international shipping. So sad! =(

I had difficulty determining whether or not Seventeen even expects me to work at all. This month's issue does include an article on turning your passion into cash, however, the potential jobs they profiled were more typical of romantic comedy protagonists than actual teens. (Think: baker, artist, animal shelter volunteer) Certainly no bussing tables or McDonald's drive thru. I guess it is positive that they are encouraging girls and young women to pursue entrepreneurship, but I couldn't help but think that the premise of the article sort of marginalized women into Women's Jobs, not just Jobs.

I decided hair and makeup would be the best way to add a Seventeen touch to my uniform. The 7 Days of Beauty weekly hair calendar didn't offer a hairstyle for any day that included working a job. They did, however, offer a hairstyle for a "Mall Run." Presumably the Seventeen reader has money, and from the magazine's lack of an offered hairdo for working, we can assume that she does not earn it herself.

I should do the same!

As it happens, the more commercial work we get, the less personal work we produce. It's a vicious and inevitable cycle, I think, where something that makes us feel so good (getting work, it is), can really suffocate us too. So, every year I "force" myself to put time aside to put together at least one full personal series of up to 12 pieces. That way, I can breath again every day....

Hasta hace poco también estaba la primer película de Charlie Kauffman como director.
Me sorprende que cada tanto haya tan buen cine en cartelera.

La reflexión del día

Ineficiencia es:
-Que la heladera venga con la chapa rayada de fábrica, y no te la quieran cambiar.
-Que el futón que compraste te lo traigan con el barniz saltado, y a los dos meses de uso se le descosa un botón.
-Que tarden dos meses en habilitarte la línea de teléfono (porque ya estaba hecha la instalación, sólo faltaba habilitarla).
-Que te instalen internet, y nunca te llamen para habilitar el Wifi.
-Que compres un acolchado de 2 plazas y media, y te den uno Queen.
-Que después de esperar 15 días para recibir el colchón en tu casa, te digan de un día para el otro que te lo van a entregar de 10 a 14 hs y para pedir otro horario significa que te lo reprogramen para dentro de 10 días, y en esa ocasión tampoco puedas establecer vos un rango de horario.
-Que solicites un flete para ir a buscar el colchón al local, y el flete nunca aparezca.
-Que hagas el cambio de domicilio en Marzo para que te llegue la suscripción de Ohlalá a tu casa, pasen dos meses, nunca te llegue la revista y te la sigan cobrando.
-Que te pase todo eso y sigas sin aprender cómo reclamar, no amenazás que vas a prender fuego todo para que te solucionen el problema y además te compensen el mal trago con un beneficio. No, no aprendés a reclamar, seguís siendo el mismo paparulo al que todos le pasan por encima.
